🕊️ Dominiq Ponder Cause of Death: What Happened to the Colorado QB?
Dominiq Ponder, a backup quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes football, died at 23 following a single-car crash in Boulder County, Colorado. His death was confirmed by head coach Deion Sanders in a social media tribute.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:00 a.m. on March 1 on Baseline Road near Newland Court. Troopers said Ponder was driving a 2023 Tesla Model 3 westbound when he lost control on a right-hand curve. The vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane, struck a guardrail, hit an electrical pole, rolled down an embankment, and caught fire. Ponder, the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Vehicular Crimes Unit is leading the investigation.
Originally from Opa Locka, Florida, Ponder transferred to Colorado from Bethune-Cookman and served as a reserve quarterback. In his tribute, Sanders wrote, “Dom was one of my favorites… Loved, Respected & a Born Leader.”
