🗣️ “Rod of Discipline”: Deion Sanders Gets Real About His Parenting Style
Deion Sanders has raised five children under the spotlight, including Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders, and he credits old-school discipline for helping shape them. On a recent episode of We Got Time Today on Tubi, Sanders made it clear he’s not a fan of gentle parenting.
“What am I gonna say, ‘Go to your room,’ to that 45-or-50 inch screen on the wall?” Sanders joked. “You got everything in your room… That didn’t work in my house either.” He explained that sending kids to a comfortable bedroom doesn’t feel like real discipline, and added that while he avoids profanity, he sticks to what he calls the biblical “rod of discipline.”
Referencing scripture like Proverbs 13:24, Sanders said, “The way the Bible told me to… ‘The rod of discipline.’” While parenting styles continue to evolve, Coach Prime’s message was simple: structure, accountability, and firm boundaries worked in his household, and he’s standing by it.
🏈 “I Wasn’t Mike Vick”: Deion Sanders Reflects on His High School QB Days
Before he became “Coach Prime,” Deion Sanders says he had a little quarterback in him, just not quite on the level of Michael Vick.
Appearing on NFL on Prime, Sanders revealed he actually called his own plays in high school. “I love quarterback, man… I was that astute with the offense to call my own plays,” he said, explaining why he later coached his sons at the position.
But when asked to compare his style to Vick’s electric dual-threat game, Sanders delivered a classic one-liner:
“I wasn’t Mike Vick. I was like a microwaveable Mike Vick. You just had to warm me up. I could throw… definitely could run. Nothing in the gun there.”
Now entering another season leading the Colorado Buffaloes, Sanders’ playing days are long behind him, but the confidence and charisma remain very much intact.
💪 Former HBCU Standout Joins Deion Sanders’ Colorado Staff
Deion Sanders promoted Dante Carter to defensive line coach at Colorado Buffaloes football, replacing Domata Pekoafter his move to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Carter previously served as a graduate assistant during the 2025 season.
A former standout at Prairie View A&M University, Carter totaled 52 tackles across three seasons and was nicknamed “Big Punn.” He’ll now coach alongside Hall of Famer Warren Sapp, coming full circle from his “Baby Sapp” high school days.
His promotion continues the growing trend of former HBCU players earning Power Four and NFL coaching opportunities, a path that aligns with Sanders’ own roots at Jackson State University.
🔥 Browns New HC Praises Shedeur Sanders as QB1 Battle Heats Up
Shedeur Sanders is entering a pivotal offseason with the Cleveland Browns as the quarterback competition intensifies. After leading the team to a 3–4 record as a rookie, outperforming fellow first-year QB Dillon Gabriel, Sanders is now looking to impress new head coach Todd Monken in training camp. Monken offered strong praise, saying, “Sure, he can. I think what you see is elite playmaking ability. That’s in him… I’m excited to get started with him.”
While Monken stopped short of naming a starter, his comments signal real optimism about Sanders’ upside. The competition still includes Deshaun Watson, but former NFL lineman Damien Woody suggested on First Take that Sanders may already have the edge, noting Watson “hasn’t been relevant since 2020.”
With roster questions looming, especially along the offensive line, Sanders will need a strong training camp to secure QB1. For now, Monken’s endorsement provides momentum, but the final decision remains wide open.
😂 Shilo Sanders Trolls Deion Over Balding Genes
Shilo Sanders had some fun at his father’s expense after joking about inheriting “Deion Sanders Syndrome”, aka balding genes. While getting his hair done, the 26-year-old wondered aloud if a suggested “growth plan” meant he was headed toward hair loss. Since baldness can be hereditary, he decided to FaceTime his dad for answers.
Deion Sanders admitted he started losing his hair at 33, saying, “It was hereditary… your hair takes on your father.” That was all the opening Shilo needed. After his dad showed his hairline on camera, Shilo fired back, “Is that the hair from your b*tt crack?”
Coach Prime could only laugh and respond, “That’s a good one,” before attempting a weak comeback of his own. Round one clearly went to Shilo at least in the family roast battle.
😳 Deion Sanders Sets the Record Straight on He Should Be Addressed
Deion Sanders may be known by many nicknames, but in Boulder, there’s only one title he prefers: Coach.
During a recent morning run, two young boys greeted him by saying “Deion.” Before offering fist bumps, Sanders politely corrected them. “They call me coach around here,” he said, making it clear how he expects to be addressed within the community.
The boys quickly adjusted, calling him “Coach,” and Coach Prime carried on with his run, message delivered.
